Venue of KulturSiegen, concerts (e.g worldmusic, jazz), readings and informative events
On floors 1 – 3 (6,000 m² in total) of the KrönchenCenter (CoronetCentre), across the street from the town hall and the Krönchen (Nikolai Church), you will find the municipal library, adult education centre (Volkshochschule) and the city archive.
In 2006, the overriding idea was to merge the facilities previously distributed all over the urban area – including the scientific library of the Siegerland Museum and the Busch Brothers Memorial (formerly in Orianienstraße street) – in one communal communication and education centre. In the past, they had all had to struggle. In particular, the municipal library, which had previously been housed in Haus Seel, Geisweid and Eiserfeld, and the city archives (previously located in Oranienstraße street) had no leeway for urgently needed expansion. For the adult education centre, too, locating the administrative offices and classrooms on one premises meant a decided improvement. The central contact point makes it much easier for clients to identify with “their”college – a concept which is set to be developed in the future.
