“Hear ye, hear ye…”
It is the year 1576. The city lies in darkness. The streets of Siegen are deserted.
Only one person makes his lonely rounds: Balthazar, the night watchman,
in the service of the magistrate.
Wrapped in a green cloak and carrying his lantern and halberd, he tells the town dwellers the hour and sees that they sleep safe and sound.
This is a very special night watchman’s round. Facts on the history of Siegen and on the lives of her people are packed into Balthazar, the night watchman’s, dramatic monologue.

Conclude the evening in the “Old Wine Cellar”
(Alter Weinkeller), (additional offer for groups)
Situated at Hainstraße 1 at the foot of the Old Town, this vaulted cellar dates from the early 17th century when it was worked into the town’s fortifications.
These days, the quaint walls house a guest snug known as “Zum alten Weinkeller” (“The Old Wine Cellar”).
To round the evening off, landlord Dieter Dornseifer has a little snack to offer the participants of the night watchman tour:
Alsatian tarte flambée with bacon and onions, accompanied by a choice of
1/8 pitcher of Kerner, Dornfelder, Weissherbst or Bacchus wine.
Night watchman’s rate: € 9.40.
This additional offer is available for pre-booked guided groups only!
